There are
NO refunds 7 days prior to the start of any class,  Unless we cancel a class
due to lack of enrollment.   You will then be given a chance to move to another class or a
refund.  There are no credits if you miss a class.   If you miss a class, you can makeup
the class you missed in a class of the same or similar level with instructor approval.

Class Descriptions

Attention I  Class w/ Ann Marie Scripko

Rising Star Puppies, Attention I , II and III classes are geared towards building a solid
relationship between you and your dog.  I aim towards teaching active attention for Obedience,
Agility or any other sport you wish to do with your dog.  The goal of this class is to have a solid
foundation to build upon for any sport you want to do with your dog.  Our goals are good
relationship with your dog,  where he is attentive to you, ignores distractions at new locations
and focuses on staying with you, actively waiting for your next command  .Over the course of
these four classes we will cover
:

Rising Star I and II and Attention I
-Building a relationship with your dog
-Learning how to effectively play with your dog
-Clicker Training
-Motivational attention games
-Sit stays and down stays
-Reliable “come” command
-How to get and keep Stationary attention
-loose leash walking

Attention II and III
-Continued work on relationship issues
-More attention games
-“stay w/me” off leash work
-Continued active attention and start active  attention Heeling
-Move to Novice Recalls
-Introduce novice kickback stand
-Intro to Novice Group stays
-Handling and Footwork

We will also cover and instill a solid foundation of everyday “life” issues of stay, come and stay
with me.  This method requires a combination of food , Toys, compulsion and you as the best
motivator.  Please note this class is taught with the goal of achieving High attention and drive
for competition dogs, not just pet dog.  Some of the games may cause behaviors that you
would not want for your typical pet dog.  This can include begging for food, jumping on people,
tugging that can build drive and barking.  If any of these are concerns for you, please let me
know and we can modify them.  ( it will minimize the effect)

Items you will Need:
-buckle collar ( no tags)
-Prong Collar or martingale (no chokes or electronic collars)
-Flexi lead
-4 to 6ft leather leash
-Dog’s favorite tug toy ( no squeaker)
-clicker
-String Cheese, long stringy pieces (for stationary work) and cut up cubes (that can roll)  They
need to be visible easy to swallow pieces of food that can be seen and rolled on the floor.  Hot
dogs, or other soft, visible  treats can be used.
-Positive attitude and Open Mind 


Utility:  (dog needs reliable retrieve and hold.  Sit, down, stay, come and heels) Class will be
beneficial to those getting ready to show in Utility as well as those currently showing.  Class will
be geared to keep your dog fully peaked and motivated for on-going showing, as well as
identifying and working any training gaps you and your dog have. The class will help perfect
the Utility exercises as well as focus on polishing and proofing. Distractions and working the
exercises in various contexts will be covered. Class will be fun, motivational, and an excellent
addition to your current training program.  

Open:. Class will be beneficial to those getting ready to show in Open as well as those
currently showing.  Class will be geared to keep your dog fully peaked and motivated for on-
going showing, as well as identifying and working any training gaps you and your dog have.
The class will help perfect the Open exercises as well as focus on polishing and proofing.
Distractions and working the exercises in various contexts will be covered. Sit and down stays
will be worked extensively. Class will be fun, motivational, and an excellent addition to your
current training program

Novice/Teaching Novice :  This class will prepare students to compete in AKC Novice
obedience trials.  Rules will be discussed as well as strategy for competing. The Novice
exercises will be perfected and proofed. Training gaps you and your dog have will be identified
and worked. Distractions and working the exercises in various contexts will be covered. Sit and
down stays will be worked extensively. Class will be fun, motivational, and an excellent addition
to your current training program.  Run-throughs will be conducted
